Planting Sequoias

In which I blog about a life (hopefully) well lived.

Guys, I read a book.

Last, uh, spring, I joined Blogging for Books from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Group. The gist: I get a free book and then review it for them! Publicity at its finest. Anyway, I selected the book I wanted to review and it sat on my book shelf for 12 whole months.

I think this has to do with some lingering college bitterness at being told what to read and when to read it. I was subconsciously pushing back by waiting so long.

Here we go. The book I received was from one of my favorite Christian authors, Kristen Heitzmann, and is called Indelible (I think it’s the second in a series, but you don’t have to read the first book. I haven’t. Yet). This book was listed in the fiction/suspense category and it totally delivered. The plot moved quickly and the main character was not perfect and had an interesting “ability” that made me want to keep reading. The style of the book kind of reminded me of Dan Brown’s books, where the narrative flips from the main story to the “criminal” who thinks he’s doing something he has to do. The ending of this book went kind of fast, which might bother some people, and there wasn’t a lot of resolution to the main character’s relationships and ability, but that was fine with me.

Overall, I gave this book 4.5 stars out of 5. This isn’t Heitzmann’s best book, but I loved it nonetheless. My roommate Laura is currently borrowing it, but if you want to read it, let me know!
