Don’t read this if you’re hungry!

A few short weeks ago, (time is flying by this summer!) Kenny and I and our parents headed over to Making Thyme Kitchen on Cherry Street in Grand Rapids. They’ll be catering our wedding reception, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

When Kenny and I decided to go the “less-traditional” route for our wedding reception (aka, a picnic), we knew we wanted picnic-type food that would still be special. I explained it all to Karen from Making Thyme, and she said “okay!” She got a mouth-watering menu to us back in October that we’ve been dreaming of ever since.

Ken and Karen Bryan are the owners and cooks at Making Thyme–a husband and wife team that work well together. I was most interested to hear that this is a second career for both of them, and neither are trained chefs. They just like to cook and have a knack at it. We had so much fun with them.

They invited us into their kitchen and we dove right in–tasting a myriad of appetizers, salads, and entrees.

We feasted. Everything was so. delicious.

Here’s my dad, enjoying one of Ken’s creations. He cooked, and Karen graciously served us, also pictured here.

I think the food tasting was the part of wedding planning that Kenny was most excited about. It was a definite added bonus that we could invite our parents along as well.

Mmmm.

Ken and Karen only make food for weddings for people that they know, so we’re honored that they will be making their food. Making Thyme specializes in making ready-to-cook food normally, and Kenny’s parents love to stop in and grab something delicious to cook later, and Kenny and I have definitely benefited from that. đŸ™‚ If you’re in the area, stop in!
