Saturday, as Kenny and I were perusing the wonders of ArtPrize, we happened upon a whole bunch of people. TONS OF THEM. And, while your everyday ArtPrize is cool, we didn’t think it warranted THIS MANY PEOPLE. Seriously, there were throngs of them.
So we eavesdropped on conversations and found out that there was a performance-ish ArtPrize entry that would happen at 8pm. So we stuck around for this.
Hint: those aren’t stars. I think they’re Chinese lanterns or something like that.
I know, right? How cool is that?!? They’d handed out thousands of these lanterns for people to set off from the bridges in downtown GR.
It was sweet. And even though I dislike crowds with a passion, this was definitely something you don’t see every day.
If you get a chance, go to ArtPrize like 6 times. (Once is definitely not enough to see all of this awesome.) I know of someone who makes it their personal goal to see every ArtPrize entry each year–all 1500+ of them. Although I’m not that dedicated, when it’s all said and done I’ll probably have gone between 4 and 6 times…and will have barely scratched the surface of what these artists have to offer. PHENOMENAL.
